UROS-CT is the solution for close tolerance offshore well in Senegal

Centek /24th October 2012/ UROS-CT

For a short 291 ft liner run inside 13⅜" casing with a tight 12.347" drift, Cairn Energy required a close-tolerance centralizer capable of passing restrictions without generating high ECD or drag. Ten UROS-CT centralizers were deployed, passing through the restriction smoothly, and reaching depth with zero running issues—delivering a clean, trouble-free installation.

Successful Run

Stuart Harrison, Senior Drilling Engineer, Cairn Energy PLC

THE CHALLENGE

Cairn Energy needed to run a 291 ft liner incorporating an inline liner hanger and 11-3/4 in., 65 ppf P110 Wedge 513 casing.

The liner had to pass inside 13-3/8 in., 72 ppf P110 VAM TOP casing with an internal diameter of 12.347 in. and a 12.25 in. drift. The restricted clearance required a slim centralizer capable of passing through the casing while maintaining effective standoff.

THE SOLUTION

Ten 11-3/4 in. x 14-3/4 in. Centek UROS-CT close-tolerance centralizers were installed on the liner.

The UROS-CT is engineered to precise tolerances for restricted offshore applications. Its low-profile design provides effective flow-by, helping to manage surge and equivalent circulating density while retaining the restoring force needed to support casing centralization.

THE RESULT

All ten UROS-CT centralizers successfully passed through the restricted casing without incident. The liner was run and cemented as planned, demonstrating the UROS-CT’s suitability for demanding close-tolerance offshore applications.

Designed for the World's Most Challenging Wells

The UROS-CT is designed to be run in the close tolerance, under-ream applications found in some of the world’s most challenging offshore fields. This close tolerance (CT) model is engineered to extreme tolerances enabling it to negotiate the tightest restrictions.
