THE CHALLENGE
A customer in Norway needed a centralizer package for a close-tolerance operation in a deepwater well with a total depth of 9,778 ft TVD RKB and 16,614 ft MD RKB.
The solution needed to deliver reduced insertion force, low running force, proven performance through the restriction, suitable standoff and high axial stop collar load capacity. It also needed to provide a cost-effective alternative to the high-cost centralizer sub traditionally used in this type of close-tolerance application.
For this well, the customer needed to run a 17" liner through a wear bushing restriction with an ID of 17.75" to 3,295 ft TVD.
THE SOLUTION
To meet the challenge, Centek recommended the UROS-CT centralizer.
The UROS-CT close-tolerance centralizer is specifically designed for tight annulus applications where narrow margins between pore pressure and fracture gradient can increase operational risk. In deepwater operations, the UROS-CT can compress virtually flat to travel through tight casing restrictions, while still expanding to the designed open-hole size.
THE RESULT
By using the Centek UROS-CT centralizer, the customer met all project requirements and safely passed the 17" liner through the tight restriction without issue.
