THE CHALLENGE
In a land drilling operation in Rajasthan, India, the operator faced hole stability issues while running 7" casing inside an 8.5" hole. The challenge was to maintain casing centralization and ensure the centralizers could withstand extreme downhole stresses without deformation or failure.
THE SOLUTION
To meet these demands, 139 Centek S2 single-piece bow spring centralizers were installed in the open hole, along with 5 competitor centralizers on the shoe track.
The S2’s patented one-piece design provided superior strength and flexibility, engineered to handle challenging wellbore conditions and side-loading forces.
THE RESULT
Due to a hole stability issue in the string was pulled. While 3 of the 5 competitor centralizers were lost downhole, all 139 Centek S2 units came out intact and undamaged, maintaining their form and integrity.
The Centek centralizers were in such good condition they could be re-run, proving the exceptional durability of Centek’s engineering—though Centek does not typically recommend re-use after retrieval.
