Health and Safety Coordinator

Position Summary:
The successful candidate will support Managers and the business as a whole to comply with their statutory legislative responsibilities, maintain a system of work that evolves into compliance with ISO 45001and to support & advise employees on meeting that compliance. NEBOSH qualification desirable.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- To complete and/or review company risk assessments for all areas of the business ranging from general risk assessments to COSHH, Work Equipment, Manual Handling to name a few.
- To complete or review company procedures including SWIS & SOP’s to maintain safe practices at all times.
- To coordinate the completion of the relevant actions raised through Risk Assessments, Inspections & Accident Investigations.
- To carry out H&S Audits as required monitoring compliance with health and safety standards.
- To analyse accident data and record & display as required
- To run H&S Projects through to their completion for health and safety improvements in line with company and H&S objectives.
- To be actively involved in Accident Investigations and the completion of any necessary control measures to prevent reoccurrence.
- To monitor & manage the completion of training courses where required.
- To run Tool Box Talks to shop floor employees where required.
- To liaise with Employees on a day to day basis to identify bad practice to maintain compliance with company standards.
- To be a visible presence within each Unit and to monitor the working areas for compliance with company procedures.
- To carry out H&S Inductions to new employees & contractors visiting site.
- To maintain Health & Safety documentation to maintain accreditation to ISO45001.
- To actively manage & monitor compliance with internal procedures including; Hot Work & Confined Space Permits, Lock-Off & Company Procedures.
- To help monitor contractors in compliance with their statutory responsibilities.
- To assist in the monitoring of statutory maintenance & Inspections for plant, equipment and Site Services.
- To keep up to do with current legislation & best practice.
Technical/Work Based Competencies:
- To have the necessary knowledge and/or experience with the manufacturing processes at Centek.
- To have a good understanding of health and safety law, risk assessments and the importance of compliance, whilst working towards IOSH Managing Safely and then NEBOSH General Certificate competency level.
- To have basic computer skills to operate word & excel to complete reports, develop forms, keep records where required, and be able to work on the company internal Sharepoint System.
- To keep up to date with current legislation or know where to find the correct information to advise the business as required.

- Ensure all environmental waste is streamed through the correct waste process and disposed of in the designated area.
- Inform and report all environmental incidents and potential hazards e.g. spills immediately.

- Understand use of Personal Protective Equipment and Clothing and utilise in designated areas.
Location: Based in Newton Abbot, Devon.
Reporting to: General Manager
Hours of work: 6am – 4pm (Monday to Thursday)
